Irma Vep

Martial-arts star Maggie Cheung plays an actress cast as a cat-burglar in a remake of a famed French serial. As the production descends into chaos, Cheung's character starts taking her role a bit too seriously. Some of the satire in Irma Vep -- a dead-on look at indie films' pretentiousness -- will elude those unfamiliar with French new wave cinema.
