Screen idol James Dean lives fast and dies young in this made-for-television feature based on the memoirs of Dean's college roommate William Bast. The biopic chronicles the life of Dean (Stephen McHattie) from his days as an acting student at UCLA to his angst-ridden performances in television and movies and the dangerous sport that led to his untimely death. Candy Clark, Katherine Helmond, Amy Irving and Jayne Meadows co-star.
