When Janice Beard is born, her father dies of a heart attack at that exact instant, causing her mother to fall into depression that lasts two decades. After graduating school, Janice (Eileen Walsh) joins the workforce, determined to earn enough money for her mother's treatment. But when she takes a job as a secretary for a London automobile company, she becomes the office clown and the target of some absurd office politics.
