In this made-for-television movie (based on Brett Lott's novel, an Oprah Winfrey book club selection), Farah Fawcett stars as Jewel Hillard, a pregnant Mississippi mother of four whose housekeeper (Cicely Tyson) predicts that her unborn child will bring hardship. When the baby is born with a pronounced mental disability, Jewel refuses to give her over to an institution, which fulfills her housekeeper's prophecy but also brings a shower of love.
