Director Barry Levinson's comedy skewers Hollywood conventions with biting wit. Transplanted Hollywood resident Jimmy Alto (Joe Pesci) knows he's made for the bright lights of stardom, but no one else in the business appears to agree. Fueled with rage and resentment after his car is broken into and his radio pilfered, Jimmy wages a war that lands him and his sidekick (Christian Slater) more publicity than two wannabe actors could ever imagine.
