Jiri Kylian's Car Men

  (1986)
Georges Bizet's famed French opera "Carmen" is the basis for this one-of-a-kind film choreographed by Czech dance legend Jiri Kylian and directed by Boris Paval Conen. Lensed in black-and-white in a coal mine, the film focuses on four dancers who portray the seductive Carmen, her jealous lover Don Jose, handsome Escamillo and the kindhearted Michaela. Costumed as kids, the quartet reveals their stories around a set highlighted by a 1930s car.
