Eccentric illusionist Jonathan Creek (Alan Davies), who designs tricks for arrogant magician Adam Klaus (Stuart Milligan), meets his intellectual match in investigative journalist Maddy Magellan (Caroline Quentin) and reluctantly joins forces with her to become a pair of unbeatable amateur sleuths. Maddy quickly falls for the shy Jonathan, and although he dithers about pursuing a relationship, he eagerly solves the baffling puzzles she uncovers.
