After her parents are murdered by her scheming uncle, a young girl named Kintoki flees the capital city of Kyo. Heading to the mountains, she settles in a village there and is renamed Kai Doh Maru by the locals. But when she falls in love, past and present collide in a vicious cycle of jealousy and violence. Set in feudal Japan's Heian era, Kai Doh Maru is a spellbinding anime tour de force.
