Three generations of the Kapoor acting clan star in this family drama that also marks Randhir Kapoor's directorial debut. The affecting tale centers on a clash between aged patriarch Diwan Saheb (Prithviraj Kapoor), his son Ram (Raj Kapoor) and Ram's son Rajesh (Randhir Kapoor), who returns home from London and rejects the girl his grandfather wants him to marry. Forced to choose between his father and his son, Ram leaves the family home.
