Sora Naegino, a Japanese teen orphan with big dreams of becoming a performer, arrives in Cape May, just outside of San Francisco, to begin her apprenticeship with the captivating Kaleido Stage circus. The whimsical circus is a unique place where unusual clowns and daring trapeze artists exhibit their many talents, and Sora is determined -- with some help from an encouraging imaginary doll -- to join their ranks and succeed as an acrobat.
