Rainer Werner Fassbinder directs and stars in this deeply provocative film as Jorgos, a Greek man who emigrates to a small German town for work. He soon finds, however, that the locals resent him for being a foreigner and a communist. As Jorgos tries to ingratiate himself with his new neighbors, he succeeds in sparking the interest of some of the town's females … which provokes increasingly hostile behavior from the local men.
