Claudine Van Doozen (Christina Applegate) -- a woman trying to escape her tragic past -- winds up on remote Dolphin Island off the Georgia coast, where she works as a hotel laundress by day and an exotic dancer by night. When Van Doozen meets Stefano Mauri (Stefano Dionisi), the two are drawn into a complex relationship. After learning some lessons about love, Van Doozen gains the courage to confront the secrets that haunt her.
