In a movie that's part Hindi revenge saga and part love story, Shah Rukh Khan stars as young Shankar, who works for coal- mine boss Raja and his scheming brother Brijwa (Amrish Puri and Salim Ghouse, respectively). Brijwa plots to con local beauty Gauri (Madhuri Dixit) into marriage by pretending to be Shankar. When Gauri and Shankar uncover the ruse, they escape together, with Brijwa and his henchmen in pursuit. Rajesh Roshan provided the music.
