Kwaidan

Winner of the Special Jury Prize at Cannes, this film features four tales in which terror thrives and demons lurk. Adapted from traditional Japanese ghost stories, each of the four narratives finds its protagonist confronted by spirits. They compel him to either make amends for past mistakes, maintain vows of silence, satisfy the needs of the undead or capture phantoms that remain elusive. Masaki Kobayashi directs this lavish production.
