Life is falling apart for Helene (Stephane Audran): Her husband may be losing his mind. She awakes one morning to him ranting and raving, physically lashing out at anybody and anything. After rushing her wounded son to the hospital, she decides it's time to cut her husband loose. But doing so puts her own standing, not to mention her sanity, in peril, as her husband's family hires a social climber to destroy her reputation. Can she fight back?
