MTV's unscripted soap opera chronicles an inseparable clique of teenagers living in Laguna Beach, Calif., where love triangles, duplicity and small-town biases eclipse the teens' affluence, airbrushed good looks and seemingly cushy existence. As high school senior Lauren looks forward to graduation, she can't ignore the stormy love life of her friend, Stephen, whose girlfriend is all too happy to canoodle with other boys when times get tough.
