In the third season's 22 episodes, mercurial cop Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and logical Alexandra Eames (Kathryn Erbe) wrestle with criminals once more. A pregnant Eames, who's agreed to be a surrogate mom for her sister's baby, is able to continue her duties for a handful of the most heinous crimes, but Goren finds himself with a newbie partner (Samantha Buck) when Eames is no longer able to work.
