Le Gai Savoir
(1969)|
In a film that's often cited as an example of his attempt to "return to zero," acclaimed director Jean-Luc Godard steps away from the French new wave and presents a story that is essentially a series of conversations between two militants (Jean-Pierre Leaud and Juliet Berto). The pair discusses their passionate beliefs about the nature of language itself, the changing politics of 1960s France and their hatred of Hollywood.
