Charged with assassinating an African despot, French spy Joss Beaumont (Jean-Paul Belmondo) seeks vengeance after his government double-crosses him in director Georges Lautner's taut thriller (featuring a rousing score by Ennio Morricone). Imprisoned in Africa for two years, the angry Beaumont makes a bold escape and decides to complete his mission. The French authorities are well aware of his intent -- but can they stop him?
