Oscar winner Nicolas Cage stars in this incisive portrait as an alcoholic Hollywood executive who moves to Las Vegas to drink himself to death and meets a prostitute (Elisabeth Shue) who comes to know and love him, without trying to upset his nihilistic agenda. Cage and Shue mesmerize as a marginalized couple who cling to each other for strength despite the direness of their individual circumstances.
