After her 16-year-old son disappears, a resourceful woman named Christine (Anny Duperey) enlists the aid of two of her former lovers by convincing each of them that he's the boy's father. It isn't long before the two men, François (Pierre Richard) and Jean (Gerard Depardieu), meet by chance, trade stories and decide to team up in their search -- forming one of the oddest and most inept partnerships France has ever seen.
