After her husband abandons her, Laura flees Buenos Aires with her daughter, Muriel, to find a quieter life in the country. The journey begins well, but an unlucky accident takes everything they own. Left with nothing, they form a surrogate family with a female hotel owner and her two children. But their newfound happiness is threatened when Laura's husband shows up to make amends.
