"El Tarzan" Lira is an ex-convict who decides to give up his criminal past and turn over a new leaf. But when a corrupt policeman blackmails him, "El Tarzan" feels he has no other option but to continue committing robberies. Adapting film noir conventions to the Mexican context, writer-director Arturo Ripstein's drama focuses on Mexican police corruption and questions the judicial system.
