On the eve of the millennium, an expatriate filmmaker (Abderrahmane Sissako) returns home to visit his father in rural Mali. As the industrialized world experiences chiliad fever, life in the bucolic African hamlet goes on peacefully unchanged. The film was one of several shorts commissioned for French television as part of the "2000 Seen by ..." project, which focused on the theme of the coming millennium.
