Locked-In Syndrome

  (1997)
As the year 1995 drew to a close, French magazine editor Jean-Dominique Bauby suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed and speechless -- acutely aware of the world around him but unable to participate in it. This film chronicles his journey back. Director Jean-Jacques Beineix documents Bauby's struggle to communicate using the one tool he has left -- an eye-blink -- showing how he dictated the book that would provide a window into his world.
