Manish Acharya directs this raucous mockumentary that follows the dreams and schemes of six Indian immigrants (and one non-Indian) as they vie for big bucks in "Desi Idol," a low-rent New Jersey singing competition. "Idol" hopefuls include a gay Sikh shock-rapper named Turbanotorious B.D.G. (Ajay Naidu), a socialite trying to bribe her way to victory (Shabana Azmi) and the Jewish inventor of "joga" -- a hybrid of jogging and yoga (Michael Raimondi).
