As India's last viceroy, Lord Louis Mountbatten (Nicol Williamson) -- Queen Victoria's great-grandson -- presided over the country's liberation from British rule in 1947 and its subsequent split into the at-odds nations of India and Pakistan. Documenting the Indian struggle for independence through Mountbatten's eyes, this "Masterpiece Theatre" production also explores his relationship with Mahatma Gandhi (Sam Dastor).
