Director Aleksandr Mitta's harrowing political drama set in the Soviet Union during the Stalin era stars Anthony Andrews as a British archaeologist who's mistaken for a spy by the KGB and tossed into a Siberian labor camp. Chronicling his efforts to survive the harsh conditions of the gulag, the Golden Globe-nominated film paints a bleak picture of daily life in the infamous Russian prisons.
