While working as a nurse in the Egyptian desert during World War II, Hanka Ordonowna (Dorota Stalinska) reflects on her life in interwar Warsaw, Poland, where she rose to a fame as a cabaret singer and movie star. Along the way, she endured tuberculosis, a Nazi occupation and separation from her beloved husband, a soldier in the Polish army. The sweeping wartime biopic also stars Stanislawa Celinska, Bozena Dykiel and Piotr Fronczewski.
