After her mother (Bonnie Bartlett) succumbs to terminal cancer, a young radio personality (Jamie Lee Curtis) discovers a bundle of tattered love letters that proves that her parents' relationship wasn't as solid as she'd believed. When the young woman finally meets the "other man" (James Keach) -- who'd been seeing her mother for more than 15 years -- their instant and undeniable attraction presents a whole new set of problems.
