Mean-spirited, wealthy and newly divorced, Richard Ma (Tony Leung) finds himself penniless due to a freak accident. Later, he bumps into Ah Choi (Shu Qi), who thinks Richard is feigning his wealth. As Ah Choi teaches Richard that there is no shame in being poor, she begins falling for him. Unfortunately, she is headed into an arranged marriage.
