Deeply in love, Guenther (August Diehl) and Paul (Daniel Brühl) are convinced that they can attain true, ecstatic happiness together, but everything changes when Guenther's sister Hilde (Anna Maria Mühe) enters the picture. The trio head to a country house, where Paul falls under Hilde's bewitching spell. It seems as if she feels the same about him, but Hilde is, in a word, fickle. She's secretly dating Hans, Guenther's former lover.
