Gayathri Devi's (Lalitha Pawar) son and his Japanese wife die in Tokyo, leaving behind their young son, Chi Ku (Master Shaheed). Gayathri Devi sends her younger son, Ashok (Joy Mukherjee), to Japan to bring back Chi Ku, but the child refuses to go. Escaping his uncle, Chi Ku meets a fellow runaway, a young lady named Asha (Asha Parekh). When Ashok finally tracks down his mischievous nephew, he finds himself falling in love Asha.
