When Manhattan psychiatrist Saul Benjamin (Dudley Moore) begins counseling anxiety-ridden Chloe Allen (Elizabeth McGovern), he is immediately smitten with the beautiful playwright. But a lifeless marriage and the risk of professional misconduct complicate their love affair. Despite advice from the ghost of Sigmund Freud (Alec Guinness), the love-struck therapist tumbles hilariously and passionately head-over-heels in love.
