Teenaged Mamlakat lives with her father and brother in an ancient city by the sea. When a touring theatre troupe comes to town, she sees her chance of becoming an actress -- but instead ends up sleeping with one of the actors. After discovering that she's pregnant, Mamlakat sets out on a journey of discovery to track down the father. To preserve their honor, her family insists on coming along.
