After his mother dies, Kishan (Sachin) goes to live with his married stepsister Kadambini in this Bollywood drama. But Kadambini treats Kishan as little more than a servant, making him miserable. The one bright spot in his life is Hemangini (Meena Kumari), another member of the household, who shows him compassion and love. When she falls ill from the same disease that killed his mother, Kishan tries desperately to find a cure.
