After a brutal rape, Dolores, a nun, is punished by her cruel superiors, who blame her for the crime and force her to flee the convent. She eventually gives birth and marries the understanding but philandering Vince -- but in a cruel twist, she later discovers that Vince is the man who raped her. Will she accept her oppressor as her husband and resign her fate to God, or will she rebel and discard the faith that shaped her life?
