Accused of murder, rancher Owen Merritt (Randolph Scott) must clear his good name in this Western. The tale begins when Merritt's girlfriend (Joan Leslie) marries Will Isham (Alexander Knox) for his money. When Isham is killed, Merritt is accused of the crime and tries to prove his innocence while enduring vicious gun battles with his enemies. But not everyone in town is against Merritt: A fetching schoolteacher plants herself firmly in his camp.
