Marc Chagall

  (1985)
Born in a Jewish ghetto in provincial Russia, 20th century painter Marc Chagall broke away from the restrictions of poverty and religion to become a legend in his time. Chagall studied a variety of artistic movements -- including cubism, expressionism and surrealism -- to develop the unique style that would become his trademark. Completed shortly before his 1985 death, this is the only biographical film made about the artist during his lifetime.
