After closely following nine couples as they prepared to wed in the 2001 documentary Married in America, director Michael Apted returns with this engrossing sequel, which charts the progression of their relationships five years later. Juxtaposing clips from the first film and footage from 2006, Apted shows how the unions have fared through job changes, salary disparities and moves, and how the arrival of kids altered the equation.
