Edita Gruberova stars in this rendition of Jules Massenet's opera, in which nobleman Le Chevalier des Grieux (Francisco Araiza) forfeits his hereditary wealth to marry the beautiful Manon (Gruberova). Struggling to build a life in New Orleans, the young lovers are plagued by poverty, jealousy and betrayal. Henri Meilhac and Philippe Gille provide the French libretto, and Hungarian conductor Adam Fischer leads the Vienna State Opera Orchestra.
