Alessio Orano stars as Valerio, an Italian exchange student who finds himself adrift and out of place at Oxford. Fellow rising stars of 1970s European cinema Jane Birken and John Steiner co-star as students who become entangled with Valerio. When Valerio refuses to conform with tradition and the code of behavior students are expected to follow, his unconventional attitude has unexpected and tragic consequences.
