This offbeat comedy stars Josh Charles as Peter Silverblatt, a liberal writer transplanted to Los Angeles, where he meets his dream girl: Southern belle Melanie Branson (Alexandra Wentworth). But she opens a Pandora's box when she summons Peter to Georgia to meet her eccentric family -- including her exasperating brothers (Beau Bridges and Walter Olkewicz) and her cranky, meddling father (Lloyd Bridges), who'll do anything to break up the union.
