When his wife and many of his friends emigrate to the United States, Sergio (Sergio Corrieri), a wealthy, introspective author, decides to remain in Cuba. This choice gives him a unique perspective on his native country -- the revolution, the condition of his fellow countrymen and Cuba's relationship with the United States. Directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, this profound cinematic work effectively fuses drama with documentary footage.
