Left on her own after her feckless husband (Raj Babbar) is thrown in jail, stalwart Geeta (Smita Patil) pretends she's a widow to protect herself -- and her three children -- against shame. But soon, fate intervenes via a rich man who makes Geeta a manager in his company. Unfortunately, her success provokes the envy of her colleagues, and her social standing is further threatened when her husband's released from jail and threatens to expose her.
