Successful advertising writer Nia Evans (Karyn Parsons), the daughter of a white father and a black mother, becomes infuriated when her company asks her to promote a new beer aimed at black youngsters in the ghetto. Spurred by righteous anger, Nia resigns, planning to pen the great African-American novel -- but discovers she's lost touch with that part of her ancestry. As she churns the cultural pot, will Nia find her identity?
