In 1917 as Russia braces for civil war, inexperienced physician Dr. Poliakov (Leonid Bichevin) confronts harrowing challenges while practicing medicine in a remote Siberian village, coping with his stress by taking morphine, which begins to gradually ruin his life. Based on an autobiographical novel by Mikhail A. Bulgakov, this intense drama co-stars Ingeborga Dapkunaite, Sergey Garmash and Aleksey Istomin.
