Young British couple Kit (James Wilby) and Angela (Fiona Gillies) watch in horror as their pleasant lives are upturned by Kit's psychotically possessive mother, Helena Vesey (Diana Rigg), whose jealousy for her ex-hubby, Alex (David McCallum), and his new wife, Ruth, yields very ugly consequences. Rigg won a BAFTA award for her memorably chilling, against-type performance in this cleverly scripted, darkly comic drama.
