Tenor Luciano Pavarotti delivers a dazzling performance in the title role of this 1982 presentation of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Idomeneo," lavishly staged by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle. Filmed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City -- with maestro James Levine conducting the orchestra -- the sparkling production also features mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade and sopranos Ileana Cotrubas and Hildegard Behrens.
