Sophisticated New Yorkers Jim and Muriel Blandings (Cary Grant and Myrna Loy) leave their jaded city life for a dreamy getaway in rural Connecticut. But when their first house isn't to their liking, the Blandings start over from scratch -- with disastrous results. As local tradesmen increase their work rates and try to cash in on the recent transplants, Grant's advertising executive job may be on the line if he can't think of a slogan to sell ham.
